About the Program
The Cap Valley FC (CVFC) Competitive Program offers a dynamic, development-focused environment for players seeking a higher level of play beyond recreational soccer. Our teams compete in the US Club Soccer–sanctioned NorCal Premier Soccer League, one of the top youth leagues in Northern California. CVFC fields boys and girls teams across multiple age groups from U10 through U19.
Our mission is to foster technical excellence, tactical intelligence, and strong character through a player-centric coaching philosophy. We provide year-round training, league play, and tournament competition. This ensures every player has the opportunity to grow and challenge themselves in a supportive, team-oriented setting.

CVFC is proud to maintain a positive, family-focused culture. We value teamwork, integrity, and long-term player growth over short-term results. Our goal is to prepare players for success on and off the field, whether they continue into high school, college, or simply as lifelong lovers of the game.
What is competitive soccer?
Cap Valley FC Comp Soccer
Competitive soccer (often called club or travel soccer) involves structured training, licensed coaching, and league/tournament play against other high-level teams. It requires a greater commitment than recreational soccer in terms of time, travel, and performance expectations.
How is comp soccer different than recreational soccer?
Comp vs Rec
Tryouts required (not open enrollment)
Higher training frequency (typically 2–4 sessions/week)
Travel for games/tournaments
Performance-based playing time
Professional or licensed coaching staff
When are tryouts and how do they work?
Annually in May
Players are evaluated on:
- Technical ability (first touch, passing, ball control)
- Tactical awareness (positioning, decision-making)
- Physical attributes (speed, endurance, agility)
- Attitude and coachability
Selections are competitive and roster spots are limited.
How much does it cost?
This is one of the most common questions we get and it’s an important one.
Competitive soccer fees cover fall and spring league play, multiple tournaments, state cup for ages U11 and up, professional coaches. Other expenses include but are not limited to player registrations with NorCal, field permits, referees, insurance, and training equipment for the coaches.
